Privacy Policy
Upquick connects commercial truck drivers and fleets with repair shops and mechanics for roadside service. This policy explains what the Upquick app and website collect, why, who sees it, and how long we keep it. "We" means Upquick LLC.
The short version
- We collect what we need to get a mechanic to your truck and to keep a record of the work.
- We use your location to send help. A mechanic's location is shared with the driver only from accepting a job until checking in on site.
- We don't sell your personal information, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- If you delete your account, we keep records of service jobs for as long as applicable law requires. Everything else is deleted.
What we collect
Everyone
- Account: your phone number, which you confirm with a code we text you (staff sign in with an @upquick.net email address instead), an account ID, and when you last signed in.
- Profile: your name, and an email address if you choose to give one.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications in the app, a token that lets us send them to your phone or tablet, the app's version, and a random ID for this install. We delete them from your account when you sign out.
- Agreement: which version of our terms and this policy you accepted, and when.
Drivers
- Your truck's VIN, and the year, make, model and engine it decodes to.
- Whether your fleet or you pay for service, and your fleet's code and name.
- For each request for help: where your truck is (see Location), what's wrong in your own words and your answers in the request chat, the shop you pick, messages with your mechanic, the quote, your approval of it (your name and the time you tapped to sign; we don't record a drawn signature), the final charge, and your rating of the job.
Mechanics
- Your specialties and the shop you work for.
- Whether you're available for jobs, and your location when you turn availability on.
- Your location while you drive to a job (see Location).
- For each job: your ETA, photos of the truck before and after the repair, repair notes, messages with the driver, the quote and the amount it was accepted for, and your rating of the driver.
- Your track record, such as jobs completed, no-shows and ratings. We use it to rank mechanics for jobs and to show drivers who's coming.
Shops
- Your business's legal name, trade name, EIN, address, service area and payment terms, and the owner's phone number and email address.
Location
- Drivers asking for help: the app takes one precise location reading when you start a request, so we can send a mechanic and show the shops nearest you. It's saved on your request with the name of the nearest town. If location is off, you can type where you are instead.
- Mechanics going available: one reading when you turn availability on, so we can show you jobs nearby.
- Mechanics on the way to a job: from accepting a job until checking in on site, the app shares your position with that job's driver. It updates at most every 15 seconds while you're moving, and every 2 minutes when you're stopped. In the iPhone and Android apps this continues while you use other apps, such as maps, and your phone shows that location is in use. On the web it works only while the page is open. It stops when you check in, sign out, or after 4 hours. The app asks only for "While Using" location permission, never "Always". We keep only your latest position on the job, not a trail of your route.
You can turn location off for Upquick at any time in your phone's or browser's settings.
How we use it
To sign you in, dispatch and track roadside service, match requests with shops and mechanics, show drivers where their mechanic is and when they'll arrive, send you text updates about your request, keep records of quotes and completed work, and keep Upquick safe and working. We don't use your information for advertising.
Who can see it
- People on a job: the driver, the assigned mechanic, the assigned shop's manager and mechanics, the driver's fleet managers (if the driver belongs to a fleet), and Upquick staff can see that job's details, including location, messages, photos and the quote.
- Mechanics looking for work: until a request is accepted, mechanics who can take it can see it, including the driver's name, location, truck and problem, but not the driver's phone number. On a request, the driver's phone number is visible only to the mechanic who takes the job, the shop the request went to (its manager and mechanics), and Upquick staff.
- Shop profiles (the business's name, address, service area and payment terms) are visible to people signed in to Upquick, so drivers can choose a shop. The owner's phone number and email address and the shop's EIN aren't part of the profile: the shop's managers and Upquick staff can see them, and the shop's mechanics can also see the owner's email address on the owner's account profile.
- Shop rosters: a shop's manager and mechanics can see the profiles of the mechanics at that shop. A fleet's managers can see the profiles of its drivers.
- Dispatch and billing: we share a driver's and a mechanic's or shop's contact information with each other as needed to carry out a service request, and with a shop as needed to help it follow up on payment for completed work. Shops and mechanics agree, as part of our Terms of Service, not to use this contact information to market services outside the Upquick network.
Companies that help us run Upquick
These service providers receive only what they need to do their job for us:
- Google Firebase (Google Cloud): sign-in, including the text with your sign-in code; the database; photo storage; the servers that run Upquick; and hosting of this website. To block abuse, sign-in can use Google reCAPTCHA or a check that the request comes from the real Upquick app. The app and website load their fonts from Google Fonts. Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers the app's notifications.
- Apple: delivers notifications to iPhones and iPads. It receives the notification's text and your device's notification token.
- Twilio: sends drivers text updates about their request. It receives your phone number and the message, which can include your mechanic's name and the quote amount.
- Mapbox: works out the driving route and arrival time between the mechanic and the truck. It receives both locations.
- BigDataCloud: turns a driver's location into the nearest town's name. It receives the location.
- PostHog: product analytics and session recordings, only if you allow it (see Session recording and diagnostics).
- OpenStreetMap: provides the map images. Like any website, it sees your IP address and which part of the map is being shown.
- NHTSA (the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration): decodes the VIN you enter into your truck's year, make and model. It receives the VIN.
We may also share information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of some or all of our assets, or if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.
Session recording and diagnostics
If you allow it when the app asks, we use PostHog to record how the app is used: the screens you see, what you tap, and any errors. We use this to find and fix problems and to improve the app, including for staff. Recordings are tied to your account ID and role, never your name, phone number or email.
- What you type, your photos, the camera, the map and your location are hidden from recordings.
- Phone numbers and email addresses are removed before anything leaves your device.
- Only Upquick staff can view recordings, and we keep them only as long as needed for that purpose, consistent with applicable law.
- You can say no, and the app works the same. Contact us at contact@upquick.net to change this choice later.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't show ads or use advertising trackers. We use product analytics (above) only if you allow it.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account information while your account is open.
- When you delete your account, we delete your profile and the information that belongs only to you. We keep the records of your service jobs, including their quotes, approvals (with the amount accepted), invoices from older jobs, and repair photos, for as long as applicable local and federal law requires. We remove contact details from those records that the legal record doesn't need. After the required period, they're deleted or made anonymous.
- Our service providers may keep logs for a limited time under their own policies and applicable law.
Your choices and rights
- You can turn off location, camera, photo and notification access for Upquick in your device settings.
- To delete your account, open Account in the app and tapDelete account. You can also ask us atcontact@upquick.net.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Contact us to make a request, or to see or correct your information.
Children
Upquick is for professional drivers, mechanics and businesses. It isn't meant for children, and you must be 18 or older to create an account.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit, and access to it is limited by sign-in and by each person's role.

We'll post any changes here and update the version at the top of this page.
